Get a Voice Creator Pro API Key

Create a Cloud API key in Settings > API, send your first request, and manage your keys, request history and webhooks. The Desktop API needs no key.

The Cloud API at https://api.vcp.name lets you generate speech, clone and design voices, change voices, transcribe audio, and make avatar videos, dubs and AI Cut edits from your own code. Every request needs a key from your account. Keys work on the Starter and Premium plans, and requests draw on your plan's monthly tokens.

Create a Key

  1. Open Settings > API. Sign in first if you are asked to.
  2. If you are already in the app, click the gear icon in the top right to open Settings, then choose API.
  3. Under API keys, click Create key, give the key a name, and click Create.
  4. Copy the key and store it somewhere safe, such as an environment variable. It is shown only once.

Keys need a paid plan

On the free plan, the API section shows an Upgrade button instead of your keys. Pick Starter or Premium to create one.

You can have up to 10 keys. The list shows when each key was created and last used. Click Revoke to turn a key off for good, for example when it might have leaked.

Send Your First Request

Send the key as a bearer token. Requests that make audio or video return a job, and GET /v1/jobs/{id}?wait=60 returns when the job finishes, or after 60 seconds at most:

curl -X POST https://api.vcp.name/v1/speech \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $VCP_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"text": "Hello from the API.", "voice": "af_alloy"}'

curl "https://api.vcp.name/v1/jobs/JOB_ID?wait=60" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $VCP_API_KEY"

When the job succeeds, result.audio_url links to the WAV. Results are kept for 24 hours. The Cloud API reference lists every endpoint, and the API overview has a working request for each feature.

See Your Requests

Requests, under your keys in Settings > API, lists every job made with your keys. Filter it by type, status or key, see the tokens each job used, and download finished results.

Get Notified With Webhooks

Instead of waiting on a job, add an https endpoint under Webhooks in Settings > API, up to 5 in all. When a job made with a key finishes, each enabled endpoint gets a job.succeeded, job.failed or job.cancelled event.

Each endpoint has a Signing secret to verify that requests come from Voice Creator Pro. Use Send test to check your endpoint, and Show deliveries to see each delivery and retry a failed one.

Desktop API: No Key Needed

The desktop app has its own local API on every desktop plan, on Windows and Mac. It needs no key: turn it on in the app under Settings > API & MCP, and it answers requests from your computer while the app is open. See the Desktop API quickstart.
