Lexicon

Define custom pronunciations for names, places, and unusual terms so they are spoken consistently across your entire project.

The lexicon lets you define how specific words and terms should be pronounced. Once you add a word to the lexicon, every segment in the project uses that pronunciation automatically. This is especially useful for audiobooks and long-form content where names, places, and made-up terms need to sound right every time.

When to Use Lexicons

Common cases where the lexicon helps:

  • Character names that the model mispronounces or pronounces inconsistently across segments
  • Place names or foreign words with non-obvious pronunciations
  • Made-up terms in fantasy or sci-fi writing
  • Acronyms that should be spoken as words rather than spelled out (or vice versa)
  • Brand names or product names with specific pronunciations

Adding Entries

Open the lexicon from your project settings and add entries by specifying:

  • Word - The word or phrase as it appears in your text
  • Pronunciation - How the word should be spoken

The model will use the pronunciation you define whenever it encounters that word in any segment throughout the project. You only need to define it once and it applies everywhere.

Tips

  • Add lexicon entries before generating audio for the full project so all segments pick up the correct pronunciations from the start
  • If you have already generated some segments, regenerate them after adding lexicon entries to apply the updated pronunciations
  • Test a single segment with the new entry before regenerating the entire project to make sure it sounds right
